Transfer of the N.T. Medical Service to the Commonwealth [EN 5/64]

MEMORANDUM:

His Honour, 
The Administrator of the Northern Territory,
DARWIN.

NORTHERN TERRITORY MEDICAL SERVICE.

The Government have decided –

1. That the Northern Territory Medical Service be made a branch of the Commonwealth Department of Health and be controlled by the Director-General of Health;

2. That the Officer in Charge of the Branch work in close liaison with the Administrator and be responsible to the Director-General in regard to all technical matters.

I forward herewith copy of a memorandum which has been sent to the Administrator on the matter, together with copy of a confidential communication received some time ago from the Administrator.

I am directed to ask that you take the necessary action to give effect to the Government’s decision.
